Chun Wo Fujita Joint Venture was awarded the SkyPlaza construction project with value around HK$2 billion by the Airport Authority Hong Kong in December 2004. The SkyPlaza is an integrated multi-modal transportation centre with an extended Automatic People Mover (APM) System to connect the existing Passenge Terminal to the SkyPlaza. It is equipped with check-in facilities, government facitlities as well as shops, restaurants and entertainment areas.W T Chan & Associates Limited was appointed by the Contractor to prepare the alternative design for the temporary ELS works for the main building and associates drainage works. The ELS design for the APM System involved the tie-back rock socket soldier pile wall in which the maximum retaining height for the ELS works was 13.3m.
