● P583, Terminal 1 Annex Building and Car Park 4 Expansion Works

To accommodate with the upcoming Three-runway System in 2024 and the increase of passengers from around the globe, the enhancement of handling capacity of Terminal 1 of the Hong Kong International Airport is imminent. Leighton Contractor (Asia) Limited has been awarded the Contract of construction works for T1 Capacity Enhancement Structural – T1 Annex Building (P583). The work included the expansion of the existing Car Park 4 to provide approximately 1,400 additional parking spaces, as well as a new connection system between current Terminal 1 and the new car park extension.

W T Chan & Associates Limited was appointed to carry out the Hoarding design and Earth Lateral Support. The challenge was to design a temporary shoring system right next to the existing Terminal 1 building and carriageway, while reduce the disturbance to the existing traffic during the upcoming construction work.
